Legal Chambers Cayman Ltd.
The Cayman Islands is comprised of three Islands, Grand Cayman, Cayman
Brac and Little Cayman, which are located in the northwestern Caribbean
approximately 480 miles south of Miami, Florida. The Cayman Islands are
a British overseas territory with a high degree of regulatory autonomy
and is recognized as the fifth largest financial market in the world
with 40 of the world's top 50 banks having subsidiaries or branches
situated here.
The success of the Cayman
Islands as a financial centre is attributed to the tax neutral
environment, a stable political British Parliamentary system, excellent
telecommunications infrastructure and qualified legal and accounting
service providers.
There are no income taxes
on individuals or companies, no capital gains taxes, death duties or
inheritance taxes. Government revenues are raised through the imposition
of import and stamp duties, registration and license fees and tourism.
The financial services
sector is regulated by the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority ("CIMA")
and the Cayman Islands Stock Exchange.
The Cayman Islands is home to:
• 8,243 registered funds
• 400 licensed banks and trust companies
